Buzzi Unicem to Build Texas Rail Terminal

Buzzi Unicem USA plans to open a $7 million rail terminal in Temple, Texas, reported www.kwtx.com. The terminal will be located on a 9-acre tract in the Temple Industrial Park located near the intersection of Interstate 35 and Loop 363.

As part of the project, Buzzi Unicem will add a rail spur that will branch from the main rail line in Temple. Construction on the line will begin immediately and is expected to be completed in late 2015.

“Temple is the ideal location for our company because it is a business-friendly city in the middle of one of our largest target markets,” said Richard A Sutter, the company’s senior vice president of sales. “Our new, central location in Temple will enable us to effectively and efficiently serve the large state of Texas.”

The city of Temple and Buzzi Unicem will share in infrastructure costs for the construction of a road to access the industrial park, which will also open up over 75 acres to future development, according to Charley Ayres, vice president of the Temple Economic Development Corp.

The project is scheduled to be completed in early 2016.
