Total shipments of portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico were about 6.2 million mt in November 2011, according to the USGS. This was 5.0 perfect higher compared with shipments for November 2010. Total shipments for the year through November were approximately 67.3 million mt, slightly higher compared to the same period in 2010.

Clinker production totaled 6.0 million mt in November 2011, 12 percent higher than the output in November 2010. Production for the year through November was 57.4 million mt, slightly higher than that for the same period in 2010. Masonry cement shipments of about 146,000 mt for November 2011 were about 2.0 percent lower compared with shipments in November 2010. Shipments for the year through November were 1.71 million mt, down 6.0 percent from those through November 2010.

October 2011 imports of cement and clinker of about 659,000 mt were about 40.0 percent higher than those in October 2010. Imports for the year so far totaled 6.1 million mt, down about 3.0 percent from those through October 2010.
