Acting on a request from the Dallas-area environmental group Downwinders at Risk, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will hold a public hearing on its proposed rule, ‘‘National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for the Portland Cement Manufacturing Industry and Standards of Performance for Portland Cement Plants’’ (July 18, 2012 Federal Register), commonly known as NESHAP.

The hearing will take place August 16, 2012, in Arlington, Texas. EPA will keep the record of the public hearing open for 30 additional days to provide an opportunity for submission or rebuttal and supplementary information. PCA will deliver oral testimony at the hearing. Area member companies are also encouraged to attend the hearing and deliver oral comments. In addition, the association is preparing comments to be filed in response to the July 18 Federal Register notice. That comment period expires on August 17, 2012.
