LafargeHolcim Taps Sika Exec as New CEO

LafargeHolcim announced the appointment of Jan Jenisch as chief executive officer, effective October 16. He succeeds Eric Olsen who announced his resignation in late April, effective July 15, due to fallout from the company’s admission that it had struck deals with armed groups in Syria. LafargeHolcim Chairman Beat Hess will become the interim CEO during the transition period.

Mitsubishi Cement to Release South Quarry Final EIR

The Mitsubishi Cement Corp. and its consultants anticipate a June release of the Final Environmental Impact Report of its South Quarry project, reported the Daily Press. Following its release, the San Bernardino County, Calif., board of supervisors and the U.S. Forest Service will consider approving the EIR, which has been in the works since 2009. If approved, Mitsubishi will submit the final document, most likely before the end of the year.

HeidelbergCement to Broaden Footprint in Pacific Northwest

HeidelbergCement subsidiary Cadman Materials Inc., a Lehigh Hanson company, has entered into an agreement to purchase the Pacific Northwest materials business of Cemex USA for $150 million. The materials business consists of seven quarries, five ready mixed and two asphalt operations in Oregon and Washington. Closing of the transaction, which is subject to final approval by regulators, is expected during the second quarter of 2017.
