Cemex announced a $6.0 million investment to increase the packing and palletizing capacity of its cement plant in San Pedro de Macoris (east), according to Dominican Today.

Carlos Emilio Gonzalez, president of Cemex Dominican Republic, said once installed the new packing unit will pack and palletize 2.4 million tons of cement annually – increasing Cemex’s capacity by more than 1.5 million additional bags monthly, or 800,000 tpy.

Cemex said the investment forms part of the company’s strategic plan for the Dominican Republic, in response to demand and the domestic market’s preference. “With this investment we cover the demand for the next five years and guarantee an immediate positive impact on our customer service by minimizing freight times,” affirmed Gonzalez.
