World Cement Association Adds New Members

The World Cement Association (WCA) announced that China National Building Materials Group, the largest cement producer in the world, and Saudi Cement Group have joined its fast-growing, international membership.

“We are delighted to welcome CNBM to our global cement community, and look forward to working with them and our other members to improve best practice and promote the cement industry around the globe,” said Norman Greig, secretary general of WCA.

CNBM is the world’s leading cement producer with 351.4 million metric tons (Mt) of production and 514 Mt of capacity.

“Saudi Cement is a pioneer in the manufacture and supply of high quality cement in the Middle Eastern region and we are delighted to welcome them to our global community,” said Greig. “Saudi Cement’s leading role in terms of environment, efficiency and quality will make them an important partner for future cooperation.”

With a total cement capacity of 10 Mt, Saudi Cement has a unique position in terms of economies of scale and production efficiency within the Middle East. The company is the only cement producer with its own port terminal in Saudi Arabia, enabling the group to load cement and clinker onto ships with an annual capacity of 2 Mt.

“By joining the World Cement Association, we are glad to be part of a global network of cement companies and we believe such worldwide cooperation will help our common goal of building a better world,” said Mohamed Al Garni, CEO of Saudi Cement Group.
