The Slag Cement Association (SCA) announced nominations are currently being accepted for the 2019 Slag Cement Project of the Year Awards. Projects in the United States completed or scheduled to be completed between Jan. 1, 2018, and Dec. 31, 2019, are encouraged to apply by Nov. 1.

SCAConstruction projects will be recognized in the categories of architectural design, durability, green design, high performance, innovative design, and sustainability. Further, a research award is open to any U.S. or Canadian college student(s) that have done research that includes the use of slag cement. Winning research nominations will receive a $1,000 stipend for expenses to attend the awards ceremony.

“The SCA awards program has always been focused on honoring the innovative use of slag cement in durable concrete. Adding this research category to the lineup has been a great way to expand that concept while getting students involved,” said Ed Griffith, SCA board president.

Awards will be presented at the American Concrete Institute’s Spring Convention, Hyatt Regency O’Hare Chicago, March 29-April 2, 2020. In addition to the in-person awards ceremony, winning projects also receive social media, digital, and print recognition.
