Cemex Takes a Hike

More than 60 Cemex USA customers and employees pushed the limits of their minds and bodies during the company’s annual 25-mile rim-to-rim hike of the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

Cemex USA employees, including Cemex USA President Ignacio Madridejos and Regional President–West Region Eric Wittmann, were among the participants who challenged themselves, hiking from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon to the South Rim.

Hikers walked as long as 12 hours, following the North Kaibab and Bright Angels Trails, where they descended approximately 5,800 ft. before climbing 4,300 ft. to reach the south end on the canyon. Three medics volunteered and accompanied the participants on the hike as a precaution. Hikers also used the buddy system as an extra layer of safety.

“This event has a long tradition for Cemex,” said Wittmann. “It is a breathtaking, unparalleled and wonderful experience, a day that stretches you in many aspects, a day enriched by companionship and a wilderness of ultimate beauty.”

Cemex has held this event for close to 30 years, connecting with loyal customers and thanking them for their support. This year, Cemex welcomed customers from Hardon Corp., Oldcastle, Hobbs Masonry, Domres Excavating, HTI and DBI Construction to the event.
